RCF + Midas: The Perfect Match for Galas and Corporate Events
Case study Info
The Lakeshore Hospital Ball is one of the most prominent annual fundraising events in the West Island community, gathering business leaders, corporate sponsors, healthcare professionals, and philanthropists in support of the Lakeshore General Hospital.
For this edition, held in the historic Windsor Station, Total Events designed and deployed a complete professional audio solution. The venue’s high ceilings and reflective architecture demanded precise acoustic coverage and subtle visual integration.
Technical Objective
Provide high intelligibility, uniform coverage, and musical presence throughout a multi-stage evening featuring:
- Live band performances
- Formal speeches and presentations
- Dinner and ambient music
- Dance floor entertainment
The audio system had to be powerful, compact, elegant, and precise.
Audio System Design
To achieve uniform coverage throughout the venue, Total Events deployed a system built around the RCF HDL 26 as both the main and side line arrays, ensuring consistent tonality and headroom across the room. Low-frequency support was provided by RCF SUB 9006-AS subwoofers, delivering depth and impact while maintaining control in the reflective environment of Windsor Station.
To ensure clarity at every seat, RCF NXL 14 loudspeakers were strategically placed as front fills, outer fills, and delay positions, extending both intelligibility and presence to guests seated at greater distances from the stage, without overpowering the central listening area. The cocktail area was supported by an independent system featuring RCF NXL 14 and RCF SUB 18-AX, providing a smooth transition as guests moved between spaces throughout the evening.
Front-of-house mixing was handled by a Midas HD96, providing precise control, high-resolution processing, and the flexibility required for a program that transitioned between live music, formal presentations, and ambient content. Signal distribution and I/O were managed via DL231 and DL251 stage boxes, while the house band utilized a Midas M32dedicated to monitoring and submix duties.
This system design ensured a balanced, elegant, and immersive sonic experience aligned with the upscale nature of the gala.
Outcome
The result was an immersive and balanced sonic environment with:
- Exceptional clarity during speeches and auction segments
- Rich musical presence for the live performances
- Consistent audio levels across the entire venue
- Seamless integration with the visual and aesthetic design
